Seven of Swords

Seven of Swords

The Seven of Swords is also known as the Lord of Unstable Effort and is aligned with the Moon in Aquarius. This card represents worry, incessant thinking and inability to choose. It is that internal dialogue where you know what you want to do, and then all the ‘yes-buts’ come in to cloud the issue so you end up in a stalemate. Traditionally, this card serves a warning that something may be taken from you, so best be on your guard. Don’t take anything at face value now, read contracts closely and don’t agree to anything that you’re not 100% sure about. The energy with this card is erratic, complex and changeable. Since Swords refer to the mental realm – thoughts, ideas and beliefs – this would indicate scattered thoughts and hampered decision making abilities.  Sometimes it can indicate you sabotage your own efforts due to the uncertain state you are in. And then we can take the flip side of this card in which you can use your wits to subvert an unfair situation to your advantage, especially when the system is blatantly unfair and completely wrong. Seven is the number of challenge, secrecy and deceit and is to be transcended by facing the challenge and overcoming it. The path to overcoming the challenge of the Seven lies in one’s intuition. Meditation is an invaluable practice for you at this time, because you need to still your whirlwind thoughts and sink down into your intuition. For the intuition to be of use to you (which is its job after all) you need to be able to listen to...
Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

Known also as the Queen of the Thrones of Air, the Queen of Swords represents mental development, cool precision of thought and independent logic. She is sometimes seen as detached, devoid of emotion, yet she is not so. She has mastered her inner strength and this has often come at the cost of personal suffering. She has just learnt not to display her emotions indiscriminately as she understands the power of internalising one’s strength and determination. This Queen is a mistress of organisation, common sense and fast action. If you need a decision quickly and without fuss, then she is the one to approach. She has an admirable toughness and lack of sentiment that you would have to get up pretty early in the morning to go around, so my advice is not to even try. For all of that mental toughness she has a great sense of humour and is quick witted and can be a lot of fun, when the mood is right. She will dazzle you with flashes of verbal brilliance and can hold her own in any debate. When you have the Queen of Swords in your corner, you are assured of a strong chance at success. She is independent but also committed to a cause if she so chooses, and she will bring many skills of negotiation and diplomacy to the table if that is what is required. As a partner she is mercurial, she can be moody and sullen, or full of laughter and jokes. One thing is for sure and that is she will never be found with dull routines or partners, so...
Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords

For today’s card we have the Queen of the Thrones of Air, the Queen of Swords, who represents the qualities of clarity, logic and objectivity. She is most often aligned with the Air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius – she is quick, funny, enigmatic and clever. This Queen is idealistic and values fairness and the right way. Not for her the messy details of the physicality of life and what that means, she looks for meaning and truth and justice in all  her dealings. As such she may experience problems by expecting perfection from herself and others while refusing to tolerate mistakes and character flaws. On an abstract level she represents success in business and intellectual pursuits, especially where there is a need to use one’s wit and cleverness. She is a cool customer and a good ally to have on one’s side in negotiations, because she can use her logic and intuition equally well and may have insights that others have not even guessed at. She is invaluable as a mentor when you need to bounce ideas off someone, and she will match your own ideas with surprising insights and really helpful advice that inspires and motivates. Easily bored, she needs a lot of mental stimulus to keep her interested and engaged – she is driven by variety and needs excitement and change. She appreciates the elements of surprise and inventiveness. She is organised, efficient and can be seen as a CEO or a leader in the legal or caring professions. She is no-nonsense and able to cut through red tape, delays or other obstructions to her objectives....
Page of Swords

Page of Swords

The Page of Swords is today’s card – it is also referred to as the Princess of the Rushing Winds and Lotus of the Palace of Air. It represents a renewal of mental and intellectual clarity, new ideas and information that have the capacity to bring dramatic change. The Pages in the Tarot bring news, they are the messengers of the cards. Since Swords represent the mental realm, then the appearance of this page heralds new thought and lots of movement and change based on changing ideas, and a Zeitgeist that foretells a coming significant change to one’s life. It can also mean news received via mail or email that brings something surprising to your door. You may find that words and attitudes of others may bring a breath of fresh air to your experience, or be confronting to you if you are set in your ways. You also may feel yourself reacting to situations that occur in your life now with childlike candor or childlike belligerence. Children have an uncanny ability to tell it like it is, not having the ‘maturity’ to be socially correct in their opinions and speech. So you may find yourself the herald or the recipient of the unvarnished truth – this has the ability to set you free if you let it. On a mundane level, this card can represent gossip and spiteful talk that has the capacity to cause surface trouble in your life.  But generally he is bringing news that may be welcome or unwelcome, but will be extremely important in your actions in the coming days and weeks. Since the Pages often...

Page of Swords

Known also as Princess of the Rushing Winds and Lotus of the Palace of Air, the Page of Swords brings new beginnings and the release of fears that have been holding you back. Pages often represent messages so expect news in the form of letters, emails, phone calls that tell of changes afoot. These changes are going to bring a whirlwind of activity so be prepared. Be wary of gossip, which is the lower manifestation of the energy of this card – being a Page, there is an immature or undeveloped quality to this card and if you are not on the lookout, you may get drawn in. This card also represents the flexing of the mind muscle, the use of the intellect and the pitfalls and benefits of independent thought. You may be venturing into an intellectual arena that may be unfamiliar, and therefore it feels strange and uncomfortable. But you need not worry – the speed of air will see you catching up in no time and you will be able to hold your own in any debate. Fears that once held you back are now dissolved and you feel a passion and a thirst for knowledge – don’t they say that knowledge is power? You are willing to embrace new ideas and have the capacity to take on many new beliefs. Communications of all sorts are signified by this card – friendships, connections, negotiations are all held under its umbrella. A bright and precocious child may be important to you in some way now, as the Page can often be experienced as such a gifted prodigy. You are...
King of Swords

King of Swords

Prince of the Chariot of the Winds is today’s card, and is better known as the King of Swords. This King is the fiery aspect of Air, and represents a flexible and powerful intellect, ambition and passion. He will often appear as a mature Air sign man – Gemini, Libra or Aquarius, and the months ruled by these signs would be ideal to put new ideas into action – this is his demesne. This King represents the upholding of law and justice as well as the use of the analytical and logical mind. He is impartial, precise and logical, and is an advocate for fairness and justice – he brings to the table intellectual leadership and inspiration for the future. He is an innovative thinker, intelligent and intellectual, and has powers of intuition and foresight. He can also be emotionally cold and have a certain degree of ruthlessness – making decisions based on logic rather than passion. Powers of reason, analysis and logic are his strong suits. He easily communicates ideas and is comfortable with technology and energy systems. At the same time, he is easily bored – he follows trends and often can see them coming, but once he identifies them he is ready to move on to the new. He is an inventor, a thought leader and lover of shared ideals. He is impatient and eager to move on to the next exciting idea or development. He is not one to plod along and finish what he starts – others are better suited in temperament to do so. There is a world of exciting ideas and change out...
